Business sectors - the service area network of Tank & Rast

Tank & Rast manages its business portfolio via four segments: Petrol stations, Service areas, Self-operated sites and Off-motorway service areas. The network of petrol stations and services areas is managed through a kind of franchise system where the operations along the autobahn are predominantly rented by tenants.

Petrol stations

This segment currently comprises about 350 petrol stations where Tank & Rast, together with its tenants, offers petrol, diesel and gas, retail outlets, bakery shops, coffee bars, snacks and slot machines. Additional services are modern SANIFAIR lavatories.

Service areas

This segment includes about 390 restaurants (incl. 50 hotels) which offer customers food and beverages and overnight accommodation. In 2013, there are around 210 bakery counters and more than 230 coffee bars in cooperation with Segafredo and Lavazza in the service area network of Tank & Rast.

Self-operated sites

This segment currently comprises ten service areas that are directly managed by Tank & Rast. Here, the company tests new concepts and collects experiences for further improvement of service offers.

Off-motorway service areas

Tank & Rast currently operates three off-motorway service areas, the off-motorway service area Rheda-Wiedenbrück near the motorway A2 in the industrial estate Aurea, the off-motorway service area Bremgarten near the motorway A5 in Hartheim and the off-motorway service area Salzbergen near the motorway A30. Thus, the company can now also be found at locations which are not exclusively accessible via the motorway.
